Training visit between LiU and UZA partners

A PhD student from partner 4 (UZA), Josephine Behaegel, stayed at Linköping University (partner 1) for a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) between 20th and 24th of February 2017.

The main objective of the visit was in vivo clinical imaging of the corneal limbal region.  In vivo confocal microscopic (IVCM) and OCT imaging was performed in clinics and in the lab. By examining healthy and cadaveric donor eyes, a standardised protocol for imaging and quantifying limbal stem cell niches was developed. This protocol will be then used in practice for donor screening and targeting stem cell rich biopsies for cultivated limbal stem cell transplantation at UZA.
